What kind of keyboard are you using, usb/ps2/bluetooth?

Your Alfa, as long as you are talking about AWUS036H, should be detected automatically, but in case it is not you can load the drivers for it with the following command:
modprobe r8187

i shall try to use the command once i can get backtrack to recognize my laptop keyboard as nothing on it works when i boot to desktop on livecd
