You can easily get VLC media player, which will play most video formats, using slapt-get. If you have not installed slapt-get yet you can get it through the update menu in fast-track. Seeing as you are running BT3 using the a live-CD these changes will not be permanent and you might want to consider a live USB installation with persistent changes or a real HD install instead.

Are you experiencing this problem with all your videos or just some specific formats? What format is the video(s) that you are trying to play in? Also, have you been experiencing any other video related issues in BT?

Tron,
Could you please outline how to get VLC through slapt-get, since I've been unsuccessful? I'm going to guess my source file is the culprit.
slapt-get --update && slapt-get --install vlc

slapt-get --update && slapt-get --install vlcYou seem to have struggled with this problem for a while now and have already been given the same advice in other threads that I would be inclined to give. You might want to try a different approach by for example installing VLC manually or simply using a precompiled .lzm file. I noticed that micked has made a lzm of VLC available for download (http://forums.remote-exploit.org/showpost.php?p=101184&postcount=3), but naturally take no responsibility for the file as I have not checked it out myself.

In BT3 beta, I manually installed VLC without any problems. In the Final version, I'm have tremenous trouble. I just can't figure it out.
The only reason I asked is cause I hear people say you can "easily" get VLC through slapt-get , which might not be the case. I've tried different source files w/ no luck. I also realize that I'm not the only one having trouble with this player.
P.S. What's the danger of installing VLC w/ root priviliges?
