just a quick question installed bt3 final on my eee pc (ssd install) and used Reiserfs to set up the file system and every time i power on it takes around a minute to get past a certain section where it displays
ResierFS: hdc1: checking transaction log (hdc1)
is there a way i can bypass this check or stop it from taking so long?
p.s. please see the attachment for a picture of the issue

I think your best bet is to try ext3.
"think outside the box"?
more like
"hack the box"

i don't want to have to go through the whole re-install because i have got my install just the way i like it. i suppose i will just have to live with the slow boot time. unless anyone else has any suggestions??

Just something that you may want to consider, ReiserFS being a journaling file system is very intensive on the drive read write cycles. Which considering you are using it on a ssd which has a limited number of write cycles, you are going to kill the ssd far far quicker. ext3 is a little better but ext2 uses the least amount of write cycles of them all.
Just pointing this out as you may want to consider it in your choice of file system.

thanks for your replys i think the best move will be balding parrots idea to move to ext2 for the sake of my ssd. I take it i would just use the command mkfs.ext2??
Thanks Xirtam
