I have a BT3 harddrive installed system, and I get the error:

Missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion (ISO8859-1)
unable to create fontset for font 'fixed', exiting

I get this error when I try to run aterm (self installed) or root-tail (also self installed).

This happens whether I boot from the cd or boot by harddrive.

even if i change the font to use I get a similar error, something like :

Missing charsets in String to FontSet conversion (ISO8859-1)
unable to create fontset for font '-misc-fixed-medium-r-semicondensed--13-120-75-75-c-60-*-*,-misc-fixed-medium-r-*--13-*-*-*-c-*-*-*,-*-*-medium-r-*--13-*-*-*-c-*-*-*,-*-*-medium-r-*--16-*-*-*-c-*-*-*', exiting.

I dont know if this is a BT3 problem or a Linux problem.

looking for ideas

Tim

you will need to rebuild font dir, I think this is X related issue.. and if bt3 cd works without this problem, then its your installation..
