Hi all.

I have a problem with the IPW3945ABG card. I run 'Load IPW3945' and says "ERROR: Could not find Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection...done". I have a HP Compaq nc6320 and 3945 runs ok under windows.

Any suggestion?

Thanks!

My IPW3945 works fine after loading /sbin/ipw3945 start. I still wonder why this isn't executed automatically?

My IPW3945 works fine after loading /sbin/ipw3945 start. I still wonder why this isn't executed automatically?

Thanks for your answer, but it doesn't work for me :( . I have three commands in /sbin/, ipw3945d, ipw3945-start, ipw3945-end. Neither of them seems to work although when I run ipw3945-start it remains on the wait for some seconds and then the prompt comes back.

I have tried to manually load the module doing 'modprobe ipw3495' and when I do 'lsmod' I see it loaded, but still doesn't work.

Any idea?

Thanks to all.

Are you running off of the CD or do you have it on the HD?
I'm guessing that you went to /usr/src/drivers/ipw3945-1...(whatever it is) and used load there right? This solution works most of the time but I was getting the same error you were for awhile. Mine was very easy to fix though, I was trying to tun BT2 through VMWARE and that just isn't possible. Well not possible to have access to the wireless card. The moment I booted from the CD and loaded it from the drivers folder it worked.

You can try unloading wifi first. It would just be helpful ifyou could give us the details of your install and also the iwconfig -a and ifconfig.

Hi. I had the same problem as you. And I will describe what was by me. Probably it can help. Very important is that you should hear welcome sound when you log in kde (this from a live cd). When you hear no sound that can be indicator that is something wrong that is there is some sort of conflict in hardware and software. I try different combinations when I loged in. (Unplug mouse, prinetr, turn off or on wireless connection) (and konkret by me ('I have thosiba satellite A100-733) was that I have to unplug any extern device that I have and leave turned on wireless while booting. Then I only have to do folowing: I go to start menu then backtrack then 802.11 wireless then misc and load ipw3945 sricpt wait few seconds and that`s it. The drivers were succesifuly loaded and the card functioning properly.

I am appologize for my english, and I hope that the one can understand what I`ve described.

Hi. I had the exact same problem as you. I'll describe to you what was happening to me, it can probably help. When you first boot-up, its important to note whether or not you hear the boot-up sound effect, as this can be an indicator in a conflict of hardware and software (if there was no sound effect).

I tried different hardware configurations when booting up (unplugging the mouse, printer, leaving wirless on/off, etc.) and I learned that I had to unplug any external device that I had and leave wireless turned on when first booting into B|T.

Once I was in, all I had to do was go the menu > backtrack > 802.11 wireless > misc > load ipw3945 script. Wait a few seconds for it to configure and you should be good to go! Don't worry about your English, you helped someone and that counts :D

Hi there,

I am actually new with Backtrack but i am really eager to learn about it.

I have just successfully installed BT2 on my Toshiba Satellite pro A100 laptop, after a couple of days, huh!! at last! thanks for all the posts!

now, i am trying to enable my wireless card. Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG (aka. ipw3945)

The card was actually detected on boot-up, could see it from the dmesg.

I've already tried to load it as you suggested with no extra device connected that might cause any conflicts as you mentioned. I could also see that there is process running under /sbin/ipw3945 once type "ps".

However, when I type ifconfig or iwconfig, there was no card showing. Actuall even my ethernet card is not showing??

Could anybody please help me on this???

I really appreciate your help.

Thanks!

you should be able to load it via the menu...

BT --> Radio Network Analysis --> 80211 --> Misc --> Load IPW3945

Thanks for the reply.

I already tried that loading via the menu with same result. Everything seems loaded perfectly but no wireless card showing.

Interestingly, when i tried to load through the liveCD and boot through "bt irqpoll" then load the ipw3945, it worked!

Now I would like to know how does it help to make it work on my BT2 on HD?

I am also having problem loading my ethernet card driver. Intel Pro 100 VE

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
