Understanding WEP cracking

Hello,

I have just installed BT2 and the first thing im gonna try is WEP cracking:

Does there need to be another client on the channel for me to crack it i.e. so I see the MAC address of two computers?

Or can I do it without this i.e. if im the only one connecting to the wireless router then will it work? and if so then how or where can i research this i this forum?

i only been using BT2 for a week but as far as i know, you need a wireless conection on your router. i just cracked my wep but i had to connect my psp and download a large file to generate ivs/data

Good idea using your psp.

I have heard you can do a deathauth attack or something.

Do you know anything about that?

i didnt need to inject packets, generated enough ivs just from the download and browsing the net. took me 50min though for only 64bit wep.

No there doesnt have to be any clients connect to crack it. Search fake association. Its very simple.

hey xtreme04, i was woundering that myself. didnt want to ask so people didnt think i was trying to crack other wep. which im not for the record.
