ok, i tried for quite a while to get my bcm4311 wireless card to inject and finally gave up. i did some research on usb wireless adapters and made a descision. earlier in the week i bought a wusb54g v4 wireless adapter. from what i read, this should work fine. but it doesnt. injection doesnt seem to work and i get a invalid command: forceprismheader when i start kismet. i did some looking around and found its using te rt2570 driver. isnt it suppost to use the rt2500 driver? how would i force it to use rt2500 to see if that works?

I was just researching that usb this morning to purchase on eBay...and install an antenna mod. The combination of that usb with an antenna mod is supposed to work pretty good. The good news for you is that you do have the right chipset that will do it all including injection.

The challenging news is that you will have to read the forums to get the right commands for that usb unit. I haven't done that yet for this usb unit ... or I would help. Remember that google is your best friend and.............

Don't forget to have fun.

My usb is still in transit coming from eBay. If you wait a week, I will have it all mapped out.

But, I think all the commands are standard for this unit.

Pull up a terminal and type "iwconfig" and it will tell you what wireless tag it has. For example, eth1.

Then, try "airodump-ng -w file <wireless tag>"

It should go into monitor mode on its own and start monitoring for wifi spots.

See if that happens.

If so, then just use the other standard commands for aireplay-ng.

yeah all that works, and i think it is capable of cracking a wep key now. i made another post at http://forums.remote-exploit.org/showthread.php?t=6062 which describes it (bottom of the page). also, i was looking at the antenna mod, has anyone here tested one of these before and after? is it really worth doing?

Just finished an antenna mod on a USB wireless (AWLL3026) and with everything else being equal (same PC, same BT2, same laptop postion, same driver, same injection patch) I do see more APs, higher Beacon rates, and higher PWR airodump-ng levels for each AP.
