Hey, I'm looking for full tutorials where someone had demonstrated putting the backtrack CD in - > to -> getting wireless injection working? If you guys have seen any around please put post links in here:
also, anyone know if you can inject etc into adhoc networks?
I'm using the Ubiquiti SRC 300mW 802.11G/B/A, but any tuts would be good.
If i can get this info I will write up a complete tutorial with screenshots etc. with the possibility of adding a script that automatically installs the drivers for the card selected (which would be a great start). As of now i am not quite sure if BT2.0 requires the SRC to have a driver change for injection.
Unfortunatly these forums are increasingly difficult to get good information from and quality responses are hard to get. :(
Before you post:
- realise i have been looking through this page and google for over 5 months about these kind of things and have had no sucess getting lots of ivs from my adhoc network/ a mates netgear wireless router.

Virtually any of the many, many tutorials here, on the main Remote Exploit site, Milw0rm, and elsewhere on the web use injection to significantly speed up cracking. These sites, the forum search function, and Google are your best friends.
Also, there is a script included with BT2, called airoscript, that will do everything you're looking for, and more. Of course, it may take a little modifying of the script to get it work properly.

Yeah I know about airoscript and all that, been modifying it slightly to give better error reporting (thing closes instantly).
I'm more concerned with getting cards setup to inject properly in the first place rather than the injection process itself.
I know that milw0rm has had a demonstation of the cracking process for quite a while now, didnt notice any info about getting setup etc.

Depending upon the card (and the driver), many of them are already patched for injection: see here (http://backtrack.offensive-security.com/index.php?title=HCL:Wireless); if your card/driver is already patched, there is nothing else needed to "setup" the card. Furthermore, the aircrack-ng (http://www.aircrack-ng.org/) site has a page specifically designed for installing and patching drivers for injection (http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=install_drivers).

I know that if you download the latest SVN release of aircrack-ng the aireplay has been updated to include a self test...actually called test to test your card automatically for you to see if it supports injection...So I suggest you download that from the aircrack-ng main site and after you download it...put your card in monitor mode and run the aireplay-ng -9 ...heres the link for the test explained...

Yeah just got bt2.0 setup properly, very impressed.
Got a load of ivs from this one router with no clients.
Its kinda weird that you dont get any from some. My adhoc network at home (netgear) doesnt give me anything.
Didnt need any driver patching to get there, latest aircrack suit is very nice with its injection check aswell.
latest airoscript is a bit buggy at times though.
FYI:
Installed Bt2.0 to hdd
booted with Netgear WAG511v2
downloaded latest aircrack from aircrack website & make & make install etc (as documented on their site)
downloaded latest airoscript and put it in the dir
made that stupid /home/root/ directory it whinges about
ifconfig -a shows wifi0 and ath0 among other things
so go
airmon-ng start wifi0
shows ath0 loaded in monitor mode
then just run airscript & go for it with ath0.
hope the Ubiquiti SRC is just as easy... :)

An ad-hoc network (as opposed to an infrastructure network) is simply your laptop's wireless card advertising itself, so it's not surprising that you're not getting anything.
