Key fount but no connection

Hi

few days ago i tried to get the wep key. After i found the wep key i create
a connection with win vista. but i can't get a connection (i can't get i ip).
I dont know so much about pc, network, wlan etc.
My question is why i can't get a connection, although i have the WEP key

Can you connect without any security enabled?
Whats your security like on your router.. I.E. did you setup MAC filtering?
Move closer to your router~ 5feet!

can you connect with backtrack would be another good thing to try. Plus aircrack is not always 100% correct. you could redo the whole attack and see if the key changes with more IV'S . did you look at the probability percentage. Turning of your security and trying to connect that way would be your best bet. Do you have to choose the format of the key in vista?

Vista is not very compatible with games...which is what windows is for.

ok i try aircrack 3 times and it found the same key.
i try it with 677000 ivs and it found the same key :)

Maybe the router hava an mac filtering is it possible? I have the WEP key how can i find a authorized MAC Adress?

Which steps i must do to connect with Backtrack2 to the router?
Must i change my mac adress?
Or how i define my ip and dns and how i know which ip and dns i must set?
Or get my pc the ip and dns from router automatic?

I have and minimum know how,threfore i ask so stupid questions excuse me, but i am very thankful if you can help me.

Since this is obviously your access point, why don't you log into it and turn off MAC filtering?

Ok i have the mac from the connected client.

If i change the mac from my DLINK G122:

ifconfig rausb0 down
ifconfig rausb0 hw ether NEWMACADRESS_FROM_CLIEN
ifconfig rausb0 up

I get an error but i can't remember. I try it at evening again an post tomorrow the error which i get if i change the mac adress

Correct me if Im wrong but Its not even possible to authenticate with a AP if mac filtering is on .So if this guy cracked the key with Mac filtering enabled that means he did not use injection and that mean it would have taken a dick year to collect the amount of iv's that he says he has. whats probably happening is somthing simple on his end {i.e. operator ERROR}. Its probably as simple as he forgot to take the : out of the equation when he entered the key or maby theres somthing in vista you have to change in order to insert a key in Hex format. I dont know I ran vista on a pc for a feww weeks and all i found were hard ware issues and all kinds of annoyinhg ballon tips i had to edit out of the registry and there was nothin positive to componsate for.

I am doing following things:

iwconfig rausb0 key KEYFROMFRIEND

So i dont get an ip.What is wrong?

More than likely his "friend" doesn't want to?? Go with your gut guys, this guy is breaking into someones WEP WITHOUT CONSENT. I don't fell like aiding and abetting and getting personal "how to be someones bitch" lessons by :
