Tech Expert on TV....how has he done that ?

Hi,

in german TV some dude called himself techgenius and showed how unsecure wifi is. he was sitting in the middle of some internet cafe, placed his antenna at the table and...thats my question.

he collects all datas which are send/recieved by all other wifi dudes ( emails, http requests etc ).

now the quesion, how has this guy done that ?? just promisc. mode or what ?

when i start my BT2, start ethercap in promisc. mode i cant get any intresting packets....

What that guy was doing, be it for TV or not, was blatantly illegal, particularly in Germany. Don't try to emulate him, and don't ask us to tell you how.

we are a SUPPORT FORUM.....not a "wanna hack someone" forum....

this forum is a support for bt2....not a hacking school.....

we never will give you techniques to do that thing(and i know how...) because it's illegal to sniff somebody else...

here we are all working on our OWN network sniffing OUR machines.....

Calling something a "tech" forum doesn't release you from your obligations to follow the law. How it works is illegal. If someone here told you how it was done, and then you went off and did it, then this forum assumes some level of liability for your lawlessness, and we'd prefer to avoid that.

how should i say taht....bt2 is a pentest software collection, so its absolutly rubbish to act NOW as the cleanest guys on earth !!! be straight....nobody releases such a cd without doing the stuff iam talkin about and everybody knows that.

Vulnerability assessment and penetration testing are both a million miles away from "how can I sit in a public cafe and sniff everyones data?"

I'm sorry you find it confusing that no-one wants to sit in a public forum and give you a step-by-step on how to go and break the law.
Perhaps you'll be better accommadated elsewhere?

Enjoy your ban then...and you still don't get it. I think you should put your half-working single neuron together with the half-working other neuron of that TV guy, and maybe you would be able to work out what we are saying. What that guy did, and what you want to do is a crime. We don't teach crime here, and we don't like criminals. I hope to see you in the newspapers one day (in cuffs).
