Does anyone know a place where i can buy a Netgear WG511 v1?
there are version 2's everywhere, i just can't seem to even find a version 1.
I've tried radioshack, walmart, etc..
Does anyone know a good site that i could buy it from, or a place to go where i could find one?
i live in the northwest houston area if that helps.

i've already searched for it on Ebay. and people don't tend to specify if it's version 1. I'm trying to avoid buying it only to figure out it's version 2.

If you click my search link above, you'll see that I specifically made my search "WG511 v2". ALL of those cards are specifically listed as WG511 v2! Can't get any better than that.

Oh, i think i might've found it, however there isnt a version specified..
amazon.c0m/Netgear-WG511-Wireless-802-11g-Card/dp/B00008I9K8/ref=xarw/002-3597976-1893668?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-9&pf_rd_r=0YB9V451PPQ5A0NQFNQH&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=237007501&pf_rd_i=908752#moreAboutThisProduct
change the zero to an "o" since it wont let me post URL's until my 15th post.
Does that look like it could be a Version 1?

You can possibly tell them apart by:
* The original WG511 (v1) has a silver antenna bulge.
* The WG511v2 has a black antenna bulge.
I don't know how accurate this is, though.

Yea, thats the one. i got it from amazon.
If anyone else is wondering...
The silver/black thing is accurate, because i had bought a Version 2 by mistake, and i noticed it had the black antenna bulge with 2 lights, and says "V2" right on the card. The Version 1 doesn't mention anything about it being Version 1, and has a silver antenna bulge.
kbserver.netgear.com/images/wg511v2.gif
That's the Version 2... obviously. black antenna bulge.

It's kinda hard to read, but the Version 1 doesn't say what version it is. but has the silver antenna bulge.

Is it silver or black?
Send it back...tell them it's not the product you ordered.

The original WG511 (v1) has a silver antenna bulge.
I just happen to have one of these. You can pm me if you are interested. Works with the prism54 drivers. It's a version 1 for sure. I went through the same thing finding it as you. I eventually found it in the back of the stack at circuit city. Works well with bt and is the same one mentioned here (http://www.reality-computers.co.uk/wg511.htm).
Back in the old auditor days, this was a must have card. There are other, more easily found cards that will do the job now. Why do you "have" to have this particular card? Not to discourage you, I'd love to sell mine, just curious.
You should also checkout every mom and pop computer store in your area. They don't move as much stock and are liable to have one cheap, dusty shrink wrap and all.

In all honesty, i really didn't need it.
it was just encouraging to see the words "works great with BT2" on the HCL list.
that and i was just being lazy.
thanks for the card offer, though!!
