If in the next Back|Track release that an easy updater for the people that have installed it on their hard drives. So instead of reformatting/partitioning that the CD could just be inserted and updated with the newest programs and such.

You could write a script to do all this..theres some thread here..you'll have to search for it..but yea, Id agree. An easy update function to update ALL TOOLS and BT bug fixes and new tools would be nice. I think its just a dream of mine...but maybe someone will implement an auto updater..I hope.

Sure, just follow MS's example. Maybe we could even have a Genuine BT Advantage tool as well. :)

how many times must i link to rel1k's update script. not today. plus muts was on here yesterday and said a bug fix update is comming. I think the reason there is no updater is so we can right our own custum one to only update what we need.

yeah I put in alot of my own stuff but it was a real lesson in using the bash shell. The only thing that f#$Ked me was kismet. I still cant get it to work. I recompiled it from the website and I still get this "suid-user"error all over the place . I tried to edit the files and comment and every thing. Oh well. I can live with out kismet

Are you compiling with the '--disable-setuid' option?

Since BT (in it's current form) is meant to be used as a LiveCD (not a OS replacement) I don't see how this would be a priority.
Not that I think it's a bad idea, I just think it's way out of scope.

I agree with updater utility. Linux has many updater servers. This helps "support" their distribution. It would be pretty easy to set up a yum, or my preference, apt-get server. This allows any kernel security updates, etc, to be downloaded immediately. There are alot of open source projects to easy the pain of setting all this up. This would be a major advantage to everyone!

Genuine BT Advantage toolAs long as it's tied to forum usernames so that we can choose to "black screen" anyone that ends up hitting "Idiots Corner"
