Enhanced Injection driver for Intel ipw3945 (External project by JMF hosted here)
The developers at intellinuxwireless.org are working on a new driver for wireless adapters from Intel named iwlwifi. Meanwhile they also made a driver for testing purposes called ipwraw. This one allows raw packet Tx/Rx with the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG adapter, it's raw mode only and can't be used for normal connections to the internet.
ipwraw didn't even have wireless extensions, so I added them to make it easier to work on programs like aircrack-ng, kismet, mdk, ...

original ipwraw driver from git repository on 19-Jun-2007
modified to ipwraw-ng 1.0.0:
* Applied 01-2.6.22-mac-raw.patch that comes with the driver
* Driver now has some wireless extensions - now can change channel and bit rate
* Added a private ioctl named 'ipwraw-ng'. It doesn't do anything, but might be useful for identification.

I left the default speed at 54 MBit. You may want to lower it to 1 MBit before injection with iwconfig wifi0 rate 1M
This package contains only the driver source code, doesn't include the firmware. It can be downloaded at http://intellinuxwireless.org/index.php?n=Downloads
More information can be found on the included CHANGELOG.ipwraw-ng file.

new driver 2.0 out yesterday

Changes from ipwraw 1.0.0

* Made some changes to Makefile. Now make install tries to find installed
firmware and check version. make install_ucode installs firmware 2.14.4
* This package now includes the modified source code and the required
firmware. Use the makefile to install it, as mentioned above
* Applied Ian's patch. This basically updates the driver to use the new
"unify" ucode (which is used also by iwlwifi 0.0.33+), and makes it
easier for ipwraw to get bugfixes for problems shared with iwlwifi.
The patch also fixes a bug in the thermal compensation code
* The driver now creates rtap interface by default. Now modprobe ipwraw
creates rtap interface, if you don't want it use parameter rtap_iface=0.

well, the installation did work and the monitoring, until i got to the point where i tested a fakeauth to my ap. System got hung up, i had to do a hard reboot which caused fsck to go into a loop, because my root password didn't work... don't know why, i never changed it. so i had to get my file system repaired... i am not eager to do this again, so i will stop trying the ipwraw for now.
