i have a old 600mhz laptop that the screen went bad on everything else works so i have disconnected the lcd and i have a new laptop.i am looking for a way two hook the old to the new so i can use the new laptop touchpad,keyboard and screen on the old laptop the end purpose is the old laptop has pcmcia and the new laptop has smartdrive and i want to be able to use my pcmcia wireless card. i still need them to be able to function together when they are not hooked to a network. the old laptop has backtrack 2 the new laptop has bt2,slack and windows xp looking for a software solution if possible i found one hardware solution but the cost is to high any help would be great thank you

Chances are, unless you actually drove something through your LCD, it's actually still good. Probably what failed is the Inverter board which is a little board below the LCD inside the Bezel. Those boards are fairly universal, meaning there's only a few models of them made, and they're fairly easily purchased on Ebay. I've bought 3 already and fixed machines up with dead LCD's. Those machines are still running today. It only takes the bezel and unplugging the board and re-installing the new board.

You can test out if it's that or if it's your video card, by plugging your laptop into an external monitor. If you get a display there, then chances are it's your inverter. I'd do that rather than trying to cobble something together like you're describing.

thanks for your help the inverter board is probably the best way to go.
