HI All
i have aquired a pcmcia card d-link DWL-G630 E2 5.00
do i need specific drivers for this card using the live cd or is this already supported within? if i need different drivers how do i get hold of these and use with live cd...

have u tested it in BT yet? because it seems that you haven't
if you have, what are the error messages?
BT2 final version does include some new drivers for that card (RT2500, RT73, RT61, ...)

Thanks for the quick response. I havn't tested it yet, i bought it today. I have just moved into a new house my neighbour set me a challange, said if i can crack his wep i can use his net for a couple of weeks till mine is connected up. lol... i have tried with a built in network card on my tosh laptop but failed when trying injecting packets, using airoplay-ng i believe, so was just curious if id have more luck with the d-link card.
cheers

haha!
We will help you, but thats really silly to ask, I mean its like "newbies" and dumb users who ask the neighbours, you should have not asked, its silly!! Just go for the "apple pie" when Grannies turns her back!
Have you really asked?

im gonna give you the benefit of the doubt, but i personally dont believe the old "my neighbor challenged me to crack his WEP" story
when you test the card, post your results

its a small village... everyone knows everyone so its not like a wifi haven.. i ordered my broadband and am waiting for it to be installed, litterally 2 weeks to go, but yeah he did say try it. i wouldn't do it without someone saying go for it. i'd be p1ssed if someone did it to me. ill try it out see what occours.

Have you really asked? Why would you even ask this question? Do you honestly think he's going to say "Oh ya I guess you're right, I didn't ask at all" ?
<sarcasm> Of course he asked, he definitely has permission. </sarcasm>

come on!!! it was a subtle attempt to make him say he did not asked!!!
:( no its definitely over!!!
I attempted to pretend it was "newbie" who asked and that here we don't...
I guess my Social Engineering skills sucks!
But you know on email it does not works apparently but in oral communication, repeating again a direct question works fine!! Trust me

No i havn't cracked his ap yet... i use this from work which is what i said in the first post, i have limited time to the internet...
i am gettign there with it, have around 8,000 ivs so far and aircrack-ng is working on it, but to be fair by the time it cracks, my broadband will be up and running anyway, just found it interesting to try. been in IT for a long time but never touched on backtrack and wep cracking before. think my neighbour was trying to be smug by saying if you can crack it you can use it. still seems like any network card i use cannot inject packets so just gonna let it run. as i said m not gonna go hammer and tong on this cause my internet will be up shortly anyway. really i just wanted to turn round to him and say, did it. lol...

As we don't know your intentions, i will give you benefit of doubt but you're violating our rules because this is illegal to break into a network for which you don't have permission....Consider that you have been warned......next time you post an allegation like that......i will act
