Default Cannot startx after install.

Hi,
I'm a fairly new linux user so this could be a simple fix I'm not sure.
I made a live usb of BT4 and ran it on my machine (HP mini 110). It ran fine and I successfully installed bt4 as a dual boot on my hard drive; however, when I login and try to "startx" it hangs for several moments, displays a few error messages then crashes. I tried "sudo Xorg -configure" and used the new configuration, but this was to no avail. Do I possibly need to install new drivers.

Any help would be great thanks.

Maybe a fairly late response, so not sure if you already got things working
I happened to install backtrack4 also (in vmware) today, also ran into problems with startx.
This may be a stupid question, but did you run sudo startx?
This does work for me.

Default Solution

That has happened to me a couple of times in the past. Solution: Do a fresh install on the usb. Make sure that the usb is formatted. You are using Unetbootin in windows to make the live usb right? Good Luck

Errr... how does one see the log file if the system crashes.
My bt4 hangs after I input startx. One click and the system hangs. Can anyone help me?

I am running it on a Sun virtualbox.

Might want to look into that.
Boot the media then go to the directory where the logs are contained and then you can view said logs. Generally the logs are stored in /var/logs. Viewing can be done using nano or vi or some such.
How you get them over to the forum I will leave up to you.
