Using Backtrack 4 Pre Release On VMware Linux?

I am using backtrack 4 pre release, i want to connect to the internet using my connected USB wireless dongle (which is compatible), i have disabled monitor mode, but when i click on K Menu>Internet>Wicd Network Manager to connect to the internet nothing happens. Could some components not be there because it is the pre release?
