Default Backtrack4-pre final CUDA all in one guide

I have created a .pdf due to all of the problems there have been regarding CUDA installs. Please report any bugs or issues with any of the gpu related packages to me.

I will probably find a better place to host this but for now you can down load the .pdf here

backtrack-cuda.pdf - 1.3 Mb

Thanks very much for this! Going to give it a go later today if I get the chance now (=
Im intrigue to see how much of a difference it makes!

btw, hosting Ive found that mediafire is the best (no typing in stuff - multidownloads at once). Already uploaded it for you:

Default CUDA Guide Clarification

Hello, I know this thread is a little old but this seemed like the best place to post this. I ran into one issue with your CUDA guide. In the section quoted below.

After installing the nvidia-driver package pyrit list_cores still just showed my CPU. Just for kicks and in case I was reading the article wrong I installed the toolkit and now pyrit shows my GPU.

I am not sure if this was something funky with my install or me just misreading due to lack of sleep but I figured it would be helpful to point out in case others have issues.

Red face trying to follow the guide but no luck

Hi there Pureh@te

I have the guide and have downloaded it for BT4 PF,

when I
Code:
cd to /opt/cuda/NVIDIA_CUDA_SDK/
Code:
ls
I get

Code:
root@bt:/opt/cuda/NVIDIA_CUDA_SDK# ls
bin C CforCUDA_SDK_license.txt cudpp_license.txt lib shared
it's no like the directory in the guide at all.

and if I run make i get

Code:
root@bt:/opt/cuda/NVIDIA_CUDA_SDK# make
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.

I have checked that pyrit is installed, and it is, but when I run

Code:
pyrit list_cores
I get

Code:
The ESSID-blobspace seems to be empty; you should create an ESSID...

The following cores seem available...
#1: 'CPU-Core (x86)'
root@bt:/opt/cuda/NVIDIA_CUDA_SDK#
I followed the guide when it says to
Code:
apt-get install nvidia-driver
I have a geforce 9500gt which says on the wiki it is supported......

so i'm begging please for a little help........and much appreciate the effort that has already been put into BT4 and the guide.

thanks

The nvidia-driver package is currently broken due to kernel upgrades. Either wait for it to be fixed or install all of the packages from source.

Wink cheers Pureh@te

I'll wait for the nvidia packages, just a question though, does this mean just the driver or everything?

cause I did download the newest cuda driver and still got nothing so i'm guessing you mean all the cuda tools/packages etc.......

I will wait

again thanks

cd /tmp

Code:
wget http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86/185.18.36/NVIDIA-Linux-x86-185.18.36-pkg1.run
chmod +x NVIDIA-Linux-x86-185.18.36-pkg1.run
./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-185.18.36-pkg1.run
then

Code:
nvidia-xconfig
see if that installs the drivers the way you want them...
