Unhappy non working ethernet connection

I am new to BT4 and I hope you take mercy on me with the replies. I have looked for answers before posting. I am running BT4 on an Intel Core 2 Duo 6400 processor and a genuine Intel motherboard. When I try to enable networking using any dhclient or networking start command I get an eth01: error while getting interface, no such device.
No matter what I try to find online I cannot find a driver nor a way to start what should be a standard device. Please help!

Try with ifconfig -a and see if its showing anything except lo interface.if eth0 is not there.than you can try with this
modprobe e1000
and ifconfig -a should show now eth0 connection.

Default no luck

I ran the modprobe e1000 and it replied back: FATAL: Module e1000 not found. Yet in Windows this ethernet connection works just fine and if I remove any LINUX cd from the drive and reboot the machine into windows it is ready to run with no other changes so the hardware is functional.
Any other suggestions or help in understanding why no LINUX distro recognizes a standard ethernet card?
ifconfig -a only recognizes the loopback local port.

thats because eth01 doesn't exist try eth0 or eth1 or even eth2 iwconfig will show your interface names

You say the hardware is functioning correctly.

If your interface doesn't show up when you do "ifconfig -a", then the only thing I can think is that you haven't got the required driver.

Do a web search for "Linux Name_Of_Your_Network_Card".
