Default Intel GMA 500

Hi !

It looks like once more i´ve decided to buy a netbook without checking if all hardware fit's my needs.

I have a asus 1101ha width an graphic intel gma 500.

I´ve been searching the web and it looks like Intel is not developing a driver for linux systems.

I would like to know if anyone as the same graphic chip set, and if is there any work arround.

Hi I have the same hardware
For the moment I'm doing work properly the graphics card with the kernel 2.6.28-16 in ubuntu-jaunty (you have to add repo from ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mobile/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main)
In Backtrack no success at the moment...

Hey guys,

Intel has never had much to do with the linux drivers, they are actually maintained by a company called Tungsten Graphics.

You could give this a go ...

Get GMA500 (Poulsbo) working in Karmic with Jaunty backports.. - Ubuntu Forums

@Dr_GrEeN
Hi Dr_GrEeN and thanks for info sharing

@inneed
Well I've downgrade bt4pre-final to kernel 2.6.28.10 add to repo (deb hxxp://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mobile/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main and deb-src hxxp://ppa.launchpad.net/ubuntu-mobile/ppa/ubuntu intrepid main) add the gpg key(apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com C6598A30)
Now the graphics works fine and you can run compiz if you want
For ethernet download compile and install (hxxp://partner.atheros.com/Download.aspx?id=103]Atheros Communications)
For wireless download make and install last stable release from hxxp://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Download/stable/

Again this is a case of you not searching and reading a little bit.
Furthermore is there a specific reason you would not want to upgrade to the latest kernel if you are going to upgrade it?
google + upgrade kernel ubuntu =
first result =
Code:
# apt-cache search kernel-image
