ettercap errors!!!!!!!!

when i use iptables in ettercap i get the following errors everytime and ettercap closes automatically i am running ettercap as root still i get these errors

Perhaps iptables or your kernel needs to be upgraded.

Well here is your problem. -> Permission denied (you must be root)
Just type "sudo" in front of your commands and you shouldn't be having any errors like that.

OP explicitly said "running as root" you realise.

If it were me, there are two possible flaws here, the first is the user is being run via sudo, ettercap may figure that out, or "su" was used where "su -" should have been.
