Some dude who's an intern at my school, performed a mitm attack with arp poison on our school's network. Now suddenly his laptop crashed and shutted down. He wasnt able to successfully shut down ettercap and since then, the network acted crazy for like 3 weeks how is this possible that an arp poison causes trouble for 3 weeks, but he only ran the program for 5 minutes?

Hi there!

First of all I have to tell you that I am a noob. But only to WPA cracking, not in general. ;-)

Hi there!

First of all I have to tell you that I am a noob. But only to WPA cracking, not in general. ;-)

I have a bet running with my neighbor that I will penetrate his wifi security in less than 4 weeks and get 50 EUR for it.

Now I really wanna do that. Here is some information that I have gathered:

SSID is livebox_XXXX (where X stands for letter or number - it a generic router ssid). So I suggest no hash tables here?

WPA2

Password is supposed to be a generic one that's written on the bottom of the router. It is a pure 26 digit number password

Do you think there is a method of penetrating this network?

My PC is a Q6600 and I have a NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS (the second one).

I realize that just brute forcing the 26 digit password is impossible, so I need a penetration plan. :-)

Thank you very much for your time and input.

Regards

Xel.Ra

P.S.:
Please don't give me any advice like "Just break the windows and look up the number on the router."! :p

Hello All,
first of if this is the wrong forum for my post apologies. Quick overview - a few backs I discovered a vulnerability in a remote control gateway software my company was looking in to. It uses HTTP post request to transfer data between a client and a server via the gateway server. As the connection is not encrypted I found it was vulnerable to a pass-the-hash attack. While testing this I was using PAROS proxy I tried to do manual POST request and found I could reliably crash the gateway service. However I'm still trying to track down the actual issue. I believe it is down to a malformed header information in the request which crashes the gateway process. I've since moved to just using telnet as PAROS adds its own info into the header. I've reported this to the vendor who is looking in to it.

My questions are:

1) Can anyone recommend a HTTP post fuzzer?
2) While I know I can cause a DoS, can anyone recommend any links that I could read to understand if it is possible to take this further to attempt code execution

thanks in advance for any help

here's my problem:

I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 with python2.5 and the latest version of Scapy..
If i start Scapy on the Terminal it works fine.
But trying to write a very easy script with python doesn't work:

from scapy import *
i = IP()

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module>
NameError: name 'IP' is not defined

Do i have to manipulate any PATH var or something like that?
Would be nice if anybody could tell me whats the problem with this script or which steps i have to take before being able to script importing scapy?

I discovered this excellent post from f3lix @ techaccesstips.blogspot. It is very easy to follow and works perfectly. VMWare 6.5.1

Quote

1. Download the BT3 VM from remote-exploit and unzip.
2. Power on the VM and verify everything is working correctly.
3. Open up terminal and make a directory under /mnt called hdc
mkdir /mnt/hdc
4. Now go to the tool bar VM > Install VMware Tools.
5. Click Install and a window should appear saying that media has been detected. Select Open in New Window.
6. Drag and drop the VMwareTools-1.0.6-91891.i386.tar.gz file to your desktop or desired folder.
7. CD into the proper folder (in my case its Desktop).
8. Then untar the file.
tar xvzf VMwareTools-1.0.6-91891.i386.tar.gz
9. CD into the newly created vmware-tools-distrib folder.
10. Execute vmware-install.pl
11. Leave all the defaults, pressing enter at every prompt.
12. When completed, configure vmtools by executing vmware-config-tools.pl. Leave all the defaults. Then add the following start up script to the ~/.kde/Autostart directory (it will be hidden).
echo "/usr/bin/vmware-toolbox --minimize"> ~/.kde/Autostart/vmware-toolbox.sh
13. Press enter then make it executable
chmod +x ~/.kde/Autostart/vmware-toolbox.sh
14. Now restart your VM and the next time you boot you should be able to drag your mouse seamlessly within the BT VM and your native OS.
